Hello!

We're Claire & Karina; two local girls who bonded on a hay bale in onsies over a shared love of shopping and now spend our time encouraging each other to buy stuff.

In all honesty, we started The Fashion Flea to reduce our own mass-consumption guilt and sell the many items of clothes we've accumulated over the years. We're no angels, but we do try to buy preloved wherever we can to reduce the waste and are big advocates of circular, sustainable fashion.

We initially started selling at other preloved markets and realised how much fun it is to share the giddiness of shopping with other people; sharing stories about the clothes with our customers and helping people to style things - and getting style advice in return. With so much shopping done online now, or squeezed in between work, the school-run, dentist appointments and gym classes, the fun of shopping has been lost (There was nothing better than spending a Saturday afternoon in town with your girlfriends buying the latest Tammy Girl cropped slogan tee (100% babe - IYKYK)).

So, with Claire's day-job in fashion marketing and Karina's in event planning, we got our heads together to create The Fashion Flea.

After a few false starts thanks to the pandemic, we were so pleased to finally see our vision and joy of preloved shopping wholeheartedly come to life at our launch event back in November 2022. The event was incredibly well received by the Wanstead community and to see that giddy joy on people's faces was invaluable; a personal highlight being a wonderful lady who came on her own and ended up spending hours getting styled up by all of the sellers and grinning from ear to ear the entire time.

So, in summary, What is The Fashion Flea? It's a preloved fashion event, where people come together to shop, sell and socialise while doing good for the planet (and their bank accounts) and helping reduce all of the mountains of waste created by the fashion industry. Sellers are a mixture of fashion industry professionals (stylists, designers, buyers) and local fashion lovers like us who have a wardrobe brimming with goodies to sell - and we always aim to have a variety to suit all shapes and sizes.

Whether you want a quick browse to grab yourself a bargain Ganni blouse or to spend the evening with us enjoying a drink and some food - do not miss out, we promise it will be worth it.
